Oscar Sudi, the esteemed Member of Parliament for Kapseret, has publicly announced his intention to vie for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat, currently occupied by Jonathan Bii Chelilim. Speaking during a fundraising event at the AIC Fellowship Annex in Eldoret, within the Kesses Constituency of Uasin Gishu County, Sudi confidently asserted that he possesses the necessary experience and vision to lead the county.

Sudi’s strategy is both calculated and patient. Rather than rushing into the race, he plans to allow Chelilim to complete his two terms as governor before throwing his hat into the ring. The year 2027 looms as a significant milestone for Sudi, as it marks his final opportunity to vie as a Member of Parliament. Having faithfully represented Kapseret for two decades, he now seeks to transition from the legislative branch to the executive arena.

The Kapseret MP humorously quipped, “I am a real engineer, although many people think it’s a joke, but I make many connections (political).” His engineering background equips him with problem-solving skills and an ability to navigate the complex web of political alliances.

Sudi’s masterstroke involves Julius Bitok, a former gubernatorial aspirant who currently serves as the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services. In a strategic move, Sudi aims to encourage Bitok to set his sights higher—specifically, on a Cabinet Secretary position in 2027. By doing so, he hopes to create a vacancy that aligns with his own gubernatorial ambitions.

As the political landscape in Uasin Gishu County evolves, Sudi anticipates support from fellow leaders, emphasizing the reciprocity of the support he has provided over the years. With unity, experience, and determination as his cornerstones, Oscar Sudi sets his gaze on the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial throne, ready to shape the county’s destiny.
